Achieve the Unexpected

okay, this is the last post I'm going to do about this blasted 5k. But I figured since I did a LO about the beginning I should do one about the achieving.

Yea! Tired. Owie.

Well, I got it all done! And I did it in less than an hour. 56 minutes. I know some people will laugh at that, but that's okay. I accomplished a goal. What more could I ask for. I'm grateful my friend Shelley who came along for the ride.... or walk! 

I think one of the most interesting things was that once the race was over there was a party... literally... where everyone was drinking beer.... at 8:30 in the morning! :) But we were eating hot dogs... at 9am. Strange running habits!

The funniest thing I saw out there was a t-shirt that said "Low carbs are for lazy people." ha ha!! 

Anyway, thanks to everyone to came along for the journey!! I'm still contemplating about the next one. 

Bad timing...

Oh my gosh... did I pick THE hottest summer to choose to take up walking?? Sure, I can walk indoors, but that really doesn't prepare you for a long distance walk in the outdoors. I certainly hope the temperatures cool down by the day of the walk. I'm suppose to go walking outside tomorrow after work with a friend who has committed to do the walk with me. 

I've got lots to prepare for this week. My nephews are down in the south visiting my brother for a couple of weeks. I will see them Wednesday night briefly before they head out to go a Yankee/Rangers baseball game. And then on Thursday I will take them to Texas Motor Speedway for a tour. They'll head home and then I'll see them again the next day for the weekend of my brother's wedding. Stayed tuned for pics from that event!! And then the next week will all be about preparation for our vacation to Colorado.
