No way my baby girl is going to be 5 next month. Just impossible. Sometimes I just stare at her hoping to get a glance of her infancy just one last time. But alas, it is not there. A young lady has taken its place. And one, I might add, that I'm very proud of. No doubt there will be more blogs in the future as the party planning proceeds, so here is the beginning one. We decided this year to take it low key. Last year there was no party at all since we had just moved here and knew no one to invite. But in the previous years we had it at our house... negative ghost rider. I'm all for taking those parties elsewhere. Less for me to clean up before and after. This year we'll be having it at the place where Brooke goes to gymnastics. She is way whoa pumped about it.
As a designer and her momma I've also prided myself on designing her invitations every year. This one is no different. When the woman tried to hand me the carbon copy on colored paper invitation, my "no thanks" probably came out a little too fast. So attached is the invite for this year. The gymnastics place is loaded with primary colors. In fact, it looks like the Crayola factory threw up in there. So we will just be sticking with the primary color scheme for the party. No special characters.
And can I just take this moment to do a little venting about children's birthdays? When did the tradition start that the birthday child had to give a gift (aka goodie bag) to every child that showed up? Uh huh... someone in the party planning marketing business thought up this ridiculous idea. Yea, I don't get that at all. This year I will simply have to boycott the goodie bag. The rental of this place is costing a pretty penny and to sprout a gift for each child that, let's be honest, is just nothing but junk is just a little extreme for me. We're already entertaining the child for an entire hour and a half. I would think any parent would be grateful for that! Okay, that's my vent for this blog.
