Calling to Canada - Five Weeks and Five Days

Five weeks and five days until our journey begins. We are so excited about the trip and waiting in expectation for God to do amazing things!

We have received $200 so far in our fundraising efforts and know the Lord is faithfully preparing others to use for this journey! What a remarkable thing to see God calling people up to support Him and the spreading of His message. We are preparing to have a garage sale and also having an outdoor (family friendly) movie night at our house to raise some additional. Local peeps be on the lookout for the movie night opportunity!

I don't think it's a coincidence that the topic and study of Nehemiah is going on in our home right now. What a faithful, beautiful servant of God Nehemiah is. And Kelly (the author of the study) puts Jerusalem [and the rebuilding of its wall] in to a perspective I've never considered before:
"This remarkable narrative goes far beyond the personal ventures of Nehemiah and the Jews. If we don't grasp this we miss the most miraculous part of the story: the city Nehemiah rebuilt became the foundation for where Jesus Christ would one day walk. The stones Nehemiah laid, the gates he secured, and the streets that the newly returned Jews trod, would one day be the city our Savior would weep over on His journey to the cross. The city where He would give His life for our sins."

Although Vancouver is not physically in ruins, it is spiritually in ruins - and the Lord is sending the workers. How will our Savior weep over that city? Will it be in sorrow as they reject Him or joy as they accept Him? We have immense faith that it will be for the latter and we are anxious to be but a small part of that.

The Lord's sometimes [funny] timing is remarkable to me. We lifted up a prayer request in Sunday School last week about combating the negativity Satan keeps pounding our way regarding our trip. And then the following study in Nehemiah speaks to pushing through to the mission in spite of not having the support of everyone around you. Sometimes having a naysayer for the mission isn't always a bad thing or a message to call off the mission. Thank you Jesus… just the support and reminder we needed to hear.

In this study of Nehemiah, Kelly shows us how many people with many different skills are responsible for rebuilding the wall. She states "They saw a need, and they took their place on the wall." How will you take your place on the wall? If not for Vancouver, where? Where are you being called to take your place?

May God richly bless you today in your seeking of His Holy Word whether it be in worship with a body of believers, seeing God's presence in His nature, or in any method the Lord reveals Himself to you today. Seek and you shall find!!
