Call Me Maybe

I can assure you that not all my posts will be about Vancouver, but since I'm still in the beginning stages of informing everyone (and people are asking questions) there is still a need and desire to post more information.

First of all - the dates of the trip are July 6-13, 2013. Thank you to those who asked me about that. :)

Second, when you decide you're going to do something of this magnitude and saying that you are "called" to do this, people become intrigued about how you know you're being called to something. And I think people are called in various ways. For us... it came more as a desire to go and then a firm belief that if we didn't go it would be in disobedience. We would be out of the will of God. And out of the will of God is nooooo place I wanna be!

I've had many lessons lately about being disobedient to what God was calling me to do. I do not want to be disobedient. And trust me... neither do you.

I'm doing more study on the calling of God. I recently picked up "Nehemiah" by Kelly Minter. Coming off the heals of the Radical study, of which I was not ready to be done with, I just needed to find something to keep my desire to learn going. And not much does that more than Nehemiah.

I'm stoked to do this study because quite some time ago I fell in love with the story of Nehemiah. About 15 years ago I read "Visioneering" by Andy Stanley. What a riveting book and really began to open my eyes to being sensitive to the visions the Lord gives us. And I LOVE what Andy says about vision - "[vision] is a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be." Oh gosh... that just gives me chills!! I love Nehemiah. I mean, I really do. I love that he was given the vision... and then he JUST DID IT. Just do it people!! Nehemiah was on to that concept long before Nike. And I think the thing that I love most was that he went when he was the only one. In case you're not familiar with the story - God called Nehemiah to rebuild the Jerusalem wall. Rebuild a WALL, people. A BIG wall. Alone. He didn't wait until he had a committee or someone to go with him. He did have to ask permission first. Interesting stuff. I'm not going to tell you any more! :) Go read for yourself or wait until I get more in to my study and I'll share with you what I'm learning. But I still encourage you to go read it. *Disclaimer - I am not a bible scholar.

Exciting stuff going on around here in the Bohanon household. I can't wait to tell you all about it!!

Until next time!
